Busy Weekend

We are exhausted but rejuvenated at the same time. Is that possible? It is, because we had a busy but very very fun weekend.
First we went Camping.
This is the kids chilling out while dad made a fire to roast our dinner. We were waiting for our Friends the Falvey's to join us
After they arrived we took a walk to see some caves that were at our campsite. we camped at Meramec State Park. It was very beautiful.
The caves were closed so we just looked inside. It was neat because it was about 85 degrees outside and as soon as we walked into the little entrance to the cave it was freezing and we were shivering. There was some water that was dripping from the ceiling and forming a little pool and all Callen wanted to do was play in it. We could not get him to leave that cave.

So although the cave was closed we shined our lights inside and saw some bats flying around.
So Addie was content waiting just outside the cave.
We had so much fun. The kids are actually really great campers. Callen is a wonderfully pleasant and fun boy as long as he is outside. they both had fun making smores and sleeping in their sleeping bags that They got for Christmas from Julie and Jake (thanks!)

Second we went to Six Flags
It was my and the kids first time there. Our friends the Falveys had some great passed they let us use and we were able get in for a really great price. So we closed up camp quite early, drove to Eureka, Mo for breakfast and got to the park right when it opened. We rode a few rides and then it was getting hot and the kids were getting hot and restless so we went to the kid area and spent the majority of the day there. For being so hot and tired, the kids sure were good which made the whole day fun and worth it!! nobody got sunburned and everyone was happy! I rode the Batman for the first ride of the day and that pretty much did me in because I get motion sick so bad. But after a few hours i was able to go on the Superman since it was a straight drop and no turns. I loved that. I love roller coasters and it makes me so sad that I can not go on them anymore. i hate getting old!!! (and thanks dad for the crazy motion weirdness that runs in our family)
Tasmanian Devil

Addie said, "skunks are stinky" and so he covered his eyes. It was funny.
She really wanted to see the skunk but she would not get too close.

Swings

and then the camera died
I must say the best part of the day was at the very end. It was super hot and we decided to go on thunder River before we headed to O'Fallon because we were sure the kids would love it because they love water. So we waited in line close to an hour and then all nine of us got into one big raft thing and as we started hitting the rapid we started getting soaked. I mean not a dry spot on our bodies and the kids were so upset. They were clinging to us and there was nothing we could do about it. It was funny in a way and we were all laughing and trying to remind the kids that they like water but that was not working so well. So our plan was not such a good plan after all. It was a fantastic day though!!!!!
third was Brenden's eagle court of honor.
Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of this because my camera died while at Six Flags but it was very nice. I myself did not get to see much of it because that would have required Callen to sit still and be quite long enough for me (and everyone around me) to hear the program. Brenden looked good and we got to see Grandma Reese (Brian's Grandma) so that was very nice. I think she is going to come see our house and visit with us on Tuesday. (hooray!) so after the court of honor we went back to Brian's parents house and Brian Grilled steaks for us and they were wonderful. It is always fun over there because the kids love it so much. so needless to say the drive home on Saturday night was quite hard to stay awake and the kids fell asleep quite quickly. We love fun weekends. Thanks everybody!!
